Hi, I'm Martha. I was born in 1951, a baby boomer, and grew up in the San
Francisco Bay area in California. I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara
(UCSB). One of the first internet
nodes was at UCSB, but no computer classes were
offered back in 1969 when I started college. When my brother first
mentioned the word "computer" to me, in 1974, I had to ask him what that
was. That year I enrolled in the Control Data Institute in San Francisco to learn
computer programming. Little did I know
that I would take my Environmental Studies degree, add 15 years of computer
programming, and end up being a computer systems project manager, environmental protection specialist,
and resource manager at the Naval Facilities Engineering
Command Headquarters in Washington DC, retiring in 2008. Get an education; it will lead you places
you could never go without it.
My personal interests are bird watching, enjoying animals of all kinds, science fiction writing, secular humanism, National Parks, and gardening. I served four years in the Army.
Hope you enjoyed my website.
